Christopher J. Gostout, M.D.
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Christopher J. Gostout, MD is the chief medical officer for Apollo Endosurgery. He has been a career interventional gastrointestinal endoscopist at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. A Professor of Medicine, he held a joint appointment between the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Department of Surgery. Dr. Gostout was the founder and director of the Developmental Endoscopy Unit (DEU) from which novel interventions such as submucosal endoscopy, and the sleeve gastroplasty arose. He was also the founder of the GI Bleeding Team, a unique acute care interventional service. He has authored numerous publications from his clinical and research activities.
Dr. Gostout is a past president of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He was instrumental in the creation of the world renowned ITT Center and EndoFest, the premier hands-on training event. Dr. Gostout was also a member of the Board of Trustees for the American College of Gastroenterology.
