President & Chief Executive Officer
Charles (Chas) McKhann was named President & Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors in March 2021. Mr. McKhann has served in Chief Executive Officer or Chief Commercial Officer roles in four medical device companies including Torax Medical (acquired by J&J) and Intersect ENT (ticker: XENT). Previously, Mr. McKhann served in leadership roles at Boston Scientific Corporation and at Cordis, a Johnson & Johnson company. Earlier in his career, Mr. McKhann was a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company. Mr. McKhann holds a Bachelor’s degree and Masters of Business Administration from Stanford University.
Chief Financial Officer
Jeffrey G. Black was named Chief Financial Officer in August 2021. Mr. Black has served in senior finance leadership roles for seven publicly-traded companies, most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Alphatec Holdings, Inc. (ticker: ATEC), a medical technology company. Previously, Mr. Black was Chief Financial Officer of Applied Proteomics, Inc., a non-invasive, proteomics-based diagnostics company, and as Chief Financial Officer of AltheaDx, Inc., a pharmacogenetics diagnostics company. Mr. Black is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and is a member of the Board of Directors of Cellana, Inc., an algae bioproducts company. Mr. Black received his B.S. in Business from the University of Arizona.
Chief Medical Officer
Since January 2017, Dr. Gostout has served as the Chief Medical Officer of Apollo. Between August 2013 and December 31, 2016, Dr. Gostout served as a consultant to Apollo. From 1983 to 2016, Dr. Gostout served in the Mayo Clinic in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. From 2005 to December 2016, he maintained a joint appointment in the Department of Surgery. In July 2000, he became a Professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and the Director of the Developmental Endoscopy and Research Unit in 1998. Dr. Gostout holds a B.S. in Biology from Villanova University and a M.D. from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center.
Executive Vice President, Operations
Since April 2018, Mr. Molesphini has served as Executive Vice President, Operations of Apollo. From January 2011 to April 2018, Mr. Molesphini served as Vice President, Manufacturing Engineering for ArthroCare Corporation, a medical devices company. Mr. Molesphini holds a B.S. in Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
Vice President, Research and Development
Mr. Neudeck has over 20 years of research and development experience in the medical device and life sciences industry. Mr. Neudeck has been instrumental in the design and new product development of the OverStitch™, OverStitch SX™, and X-Tack™ products. Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Neudeck worked as Principal Consultant for PA Consulting in medical device development and diagnostics for clients such as Cordis, Pfizer, Ethicon and Roche. Earlier in his career Mr. Neudeck worked for GSK as research scientist and worked at the Max Born Institute in Berlin in fundamental research on carbon clusters and fullerenes.
Mr. Neudeck holds a master’s degree in Physics from West Saxon University of Zwickau, Germany and Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Vice President, US Sales
Mr. Ellis has served as Vice President, U.S. Sales since May 2021. From April 2018-April 2021, Mr. Ellis served as Vice President, U.S. Sales for Relievant Medsystems. From May 2012-March 2018 he served as National Sales Manager and Vice President of U.S. Sales for Torax Medical, which was acquired by J&J. Mr. Ellis is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and holds a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University.
Vice President, Marketing and Medical Education
Mr. Bosrock has served as Vice President, Marketing and Medical Education since May 2021. From March 2020-April 2021, Mr. Bosrock served as Senior Vice President of Marketing for Metavention. From May 2019 – March 2020 he served as Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategy with Motus Holding. From June 2010-May 2019 he served as Sr. Director of Marketing and Vice President of Marketing for Torax, which was acquired by J&J. Mr. Bosrock holds a Bachelor of Arts from Boston College and an MBA from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business.
Vice President, Quality and Regulatory Affairs
David Hooper, Ph.D., has been working with Apollo since January of 2019. He brings over 20 years in the medical device field, holding executive leadership roles in Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical Affairs.
Prior to Apollo, Dr. Hooper was Founder and CEO of Minimus Spine. From 2009 – 2012, Dr. Hooper was Vice President of Clinical Operations for BioSET and Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs at Spinal Concepts from 1999 through its acquisition by Abbott Laboratories in 2006.
Dr. Hooper holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa.
Vice President, Clinical and Medical Affairs
Ms. Gilbreth brings over 25 years of experience in the medical device field. Her experience includes clinical, product and procedure development, sales, marketing, and strategy at various medical device companies such as US Surgical, the Stryker Corporation, CVRx, and Coviden. She holds a BS in Biology from Abilene Christian University.
Vice President, Reimbursement and Market Access
Keely Scamperle has served as Vice President, Reimbursement and Market Access since January 2022. She brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in the areas of Healthcare Policy, Reimbursement, Market Access and Healthcare Economics. Prior to joining Apollo, Ms. Scamperle served as Global Health Policy and Advocacy Leader at W. L. Gore & Associates; and held leadership positions at LDR Spine (acquired by Zimmer Biomet); Wright Medical (acquired by Stryker); and Orthofix, Inc.
Ms. Scamperle is a Fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives. She holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law from Loyola University, Chicago, IL, and a Bachelors in Health Care Administration from Weber State University, Ogden UT.
Vice President, International Sales and Marketing
Mike Gutteridge joined Apollo in March 2016. As VP of International Sales and Marketing, he oversees Apollo’s commercial operations outside of the United States.
Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Gutteridge held a Senior Leadership position with Smith and Nephew’s European and Canadian ear nose and throat (ENT) business. He also brings with him fourteen years of medical device experience as a sales leader with ArthroCare Corporation in Europe.
Vice President, Human Resources
Mary League joined Apollo in August 2009.
During her 25 years in the human resources field, Ms. League has held leadership positions across a variety of industries from global enterprises to very early venture backed start-ups. Prior to joining Apollo, Ms. League co-founded Human Paradigm, a human resources consultancy company.
Ms. League holds a BSW from the University of Texas at Austin and is a recipient of the Charles W. Laughton Presidential Scholarship.
Vice President, Legal and Compliance
Brian Szymczak joined Apollo in October 2014. He is a licensed attorney with over 15 years of experience advising companies in general corporate and intellectual property matters.
Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Szymczak was with ArthroCare Corporation, during which he served in several leadership roles including Associate General Counsel, Director of Intellectual Property and Corporate Counsel. Mr. Szymczak was also formerly an Associate at the law firm Baker Botts L.L.P. advising clients in the protection, enforcement and licensing of intellectual property rights.
Mr. Szymczak currently serves as an Independent Director at Heart Sciences. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a J.D. from the Duke University School of Law.
